Abstract

Lu Opera is a traditional local theatrical genre from Anhui Province, primarily popular in the "Central Anhui Corridor" of the Yangtze-Huaihe River Basin. It is divided into the Western, Central, and Eastern routes. This thesis analyzes the musical characteristics of Eastern Anhui Lu Opera from five perspectives: melodic composition, the use of modes, thematic choices, vocal styles, and orchestral accompaniment. It explores the affinity between the singing style of Eastern Lu Opera and folk music, while also considering the impact of geographic and cultural factors on musical development. The paper reveals the "melodious and graceful" characteristics of Eastern Anhui Lu Opera, which reflect a distinct "Jiangnan" influence.
