Abstract

Since obesity is closely linked to metabolic disorders, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases, it poses a threat to public health in Saudi Arabia. Effective methods for managing obesity include a step-by-step strategy that incorporates dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, and pharmaceutical treatments. In certain situations, however, surgical intervention is still required, as recently described in Saudi guidelines for the prevention and management of obesity. The objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the weight loss and complication rates of various bariatric operations based on reported data from the literature. Such procedures carry the dangers of hormone imbalances, malabsorption, metabolic problems, and procedure-related consequences. Extended follow-up and scientific body advice, however, increased benefits and decreased hazards, according to long-term experience.
