Abstract

This article analyzes the suitability and scope of transitional justice in Colombia as an essential legal mechanism for protecting the human rights of victims of the armed conflict. Using a qualitative, analytical-descriptive methodology supported by documentary and case-law review, the study evaluates the effective enjoyment of the rights to truth, justice, comprehensive reparation, and guarantees of non-repetition. The findings show that, in response to the complexities of the national sociopolitical context, transitional justice has generated profound constitutional debates and transformations. It is concluded that this institutional framework goes beyond a merely punitive approach and has become a mechanism that, despite its continuing challenges, promotes reconciliation and is fundamental to progress toward sustainable human development and stable and lasting peace.
