Artistic Characteristics; Transformation; Carnival TheoryAbstract
"Errenzhuan," as the most representative form of folk art in Northeast China, possesses a diversified and rustic charm. It has undergone several transformations from the early years of the People's Republic of China to the planned economic system and, more recently, to the market-oriented economic system. By applying Bakhtin's theory of carnival, an analysis of the physical and linguistic performances of traditional and contemporary Errenzhuan can reveal elements of carnival, allowing for reflection after the carnival. This approach can contribute to the transformation of "green" Errenzhuan, ensuring the inheritance and development of this art form.
