Abstract

The global sports community has long been engaged in a concerted effort to combat the use of performance-enhancing drugs, commonly known as doping. This paper examines the uniformity and diversity of anti-doping regulations within international sports organizations from the perspective of global governance. It explores the mechanisms by which a standardized approach to anti-doping is maintained across various sporting codes while also acknowledging the need for flexibility to accommodate the unique characteristics of different sports. The paper delves into the role of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in establishing the World Anti-Doping Code and how it is adopted and adapted by various sports federations and national anti-doping organizations. It also discusses the challenges faced in ensuring global compliance, including cultural, legal, and logistical variations that may impact the effectiveness of anti-doping measures. The study emphasizes the importance of a harmonized yet adaptable approach to anti-doping regulations, which is crucial for preserving the integrity of sports and ensuring a level playing field for all athletes worldwide.
