Abstract

This research attempts to explore the role of environmental media and its relation to the humanization of urban space and quality of life for Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University (IAU)’s students and their correlation. The study adopted the descriptive method of research and prepared a survey to measure the role of environmental media and its relation with the humanization of urban space and quality of life which then applied to a stratified random sample totaled (374) from the IAU’s students. The study concluded that the environmental media role reached a mean value in humanizing the urban space and promoting quality of life among the university students with its different dimensions respectively (awareness of urban space, promoting quality of life, behavior of Saudi university students). Furthermore, the findings revealed that the dimension related to the major challenges that encounter the environmental media amounted to a mean value and moreover the current study recommended the necessity of launching periodical media programs which introduce the environmental projects in the Saudi cities and their impact on quality of life as well as providing simplified and practical environmental media content that helps students adopt practices which contribute to improving their quality of life.

Abstract

Atherosclerotic disease significantly impacts patients with type 2 diabetes, who often present with recalcitrant peripheral ulcers. The angiosome model of the foot presents an opportunity to perform direct angiosome-targeted endovascular interventions to maximise both wound healing and limb salvage. A systematic review was performed, with 17 studies included in the final review. Below-the-knee endovascular interventions present significant technical challenges, with technical success depending on the length of lesion being treated and the number of angiosomes that require treatment. Wound healing was significantly improved with direct angiosome-targeted angioplasty, as was limb salvage, with a significant increase in survival without major amputation. Indirect angioplasty, where the intervention is applied to collateral vessels to the angiosomes, yielded similar results to direct angiosome-targeted angioplasty. Applying the angiosome model of the foot in direct angiosome-targeted angioplasty improves outcomes for patients with recalcitrant diabetic foot ulcers in terms of primary wound healing, mean time for complete wound healing and major amputation-free survival.
